“Hamilton’s March” Recreation In Vincennes

You can follow in the footsteps of British soldiers in Vincennes from 1778.
George Rogers Clark National Historical Park staff and volunteers will offer visitors on Saturday an opportunity to recreate British Lt. Governor Henry Hamilton’s journey to Indiana’s First City on their way to Fort Sackville.
They marched through uncertain weather and fear of ambush arriving on December 1st of that year.
The British held the Fort for over two months before George Rogers Clark launched his “winter surprise” to retake the region.
The walk starts at 1 p.m. and goes from Kimmel Park to the Memorial.
If you don’t want to hike, park volunteers will be at the park grounds from 1 to 3 to talk about the British and French periods of Vincennes’ history.
There is no cost to attend.
