WCS Schoolboard Moves Forward on Hatchet Hollow Football Field Renovations

whs-3

The Washington School Board voted unanimously to move forward with a major renovation project at the Hatchet Hollow Football Field at last night’s regular meeting. The renovated facility will include a synthetic turf field, an 8-lane all-weather rubberized track, new LED sports lighting, new home bleachers with a capacity of 1380 people, a new pressbox, new concessions and restrooms, a new home football locker room, a new paved access drive for the band practice area, new storage, and a new entrance with a ticket booth. The total cost of the project will be around 4.5 million dollars, and Superintendent Kevin Frank says this is something the school has wanted to do for some time, but the funding has not been there in the past…

Washington Community Schools would like to recognize three long-serving school board members who attended their last board session yesterday. We wish to show our gratitude and appreciation to Steve Frette, Pam Bartlett, and Jay Armes. All three board members have served our school district with dedication and commitment for many years. Steve Frette held the longest tenure, serving since 1994. Pam Bartlett’s service began in 2006, and Mr. Armes has served since 2010. Washington Community Schools welcomes new school board members Sarah Browning, Jason Omer, and Garrett Miller, who will be sworn in on January 5, 2023, at 5:00 p.m.
