Joe Carie, 73, passed away at 11:15 pm on December 19, 2022 at Good Samaritan Hospital surrounded by his two daughters and son. Joe was born on April 23, 1949 in Vincennes, IN and he is the son of Earl and Emalene (Halter) Carie. Joe married Eva Bond on November 22, 1969 and she preceded him in death on July 25, 2014.
Joe was a graduate of Central Catholic High School and retired from Naval Surface Warfare Center, Crane Division after many dedicated years of service. Joe’s memberships include, Vincennes Eagles Lodge 384, Vincennes Moose Lodge 281, American Legion, VFW and 40 et 8. Joe loved playing cards, especially euchre, camping with his family, playing cornhole, loved playing pool, playing tip boards and watching all of his grandchildren in all of their activities. He had a great sense of humor and loved telling people what he thought in a joking manner.
Survivors include his children, Tonia Sievers and her husband Chris of Vincennes, Tina Carie of Vincennes, Damon Carie and his companion Brandy Pace of Vincennes; his grandchildren, Bailey Wirth and her husband Jacob, Payton Sievers and her fiance Cade Thomas, Jaeden Primus and his girlfriend Lauren Fitch, Camden Primus, Tye Carie and his fiance Briana Davis; Willow Carie and her boyfriend Ethan Bushey; great grandchildren, Maylynn and Karter Carie; his siblings, Rete Carie and her spouse Cindy Houston, Moe Carie and his wife Jane, Ruth Ann (Annie) Frey, Carol Steele and her husband Fred, Jack Carie and his wife Posey, Jan Veale and her husband Charles, Joanie Carie, Judy Cooley; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Joe is preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Julie Carie, his wife, Eva Carie, his sister, Emalene Carie, his brother, Tim Carie, and his brother-in-law, Wayne Frey.
Friends may visit with Joe’s family from 4-8 pm on Thursday, December 22, 2022 at Goodwin-Sievers Funeral Home, 524 Broadway, Vincennes, IN 47591. Joe’s funeral service will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, December 23, 2022 at Goodwin-Sievers Funeral Home with Rev. Tony Ernst officiating. Joe will be laid to rest in Mt.
