The Martin County Sheriff’s Office is looking for a wanted man in connection to resisting and battery on a deputy charges that occurred at the Martin County Courthouse. On January 26, 2023, at approximately 3:50 p.m., Martin County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Cherie Pressley made contact with Zane A. Sanders at the Martin County Courthouse outside of the Circuit Courtroom and advised Sanders that he was going to be arrested for an outstanding Martin County warrant. As Deputy Pressley attempted to take Sanders into custody, Sanders shoved her in an attempt to evade her. Deputy Pressley attempted to regain control of Sanders, and Deputy Pressley was injured. Sanders fled outside and got into his vehicle. Deputy Pressley ordered Sanders to stop, but he recklessly drove away. At times, Sanders was traveling in excess of 100 mph. Sanders stopped at a residence in Trinity Springs. Deputies with the Martin County Sheriff’s Office set up a perimeter around the residence. A lengthy search ensued throughout the night and the next morning. However, Sanders was never located. Deputy Pressley was treated and released from Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center. Deputy Pressley was back to work on Friday.
