Several contractors, both local and from out of the area, met in a pre-bid meeting for the renovation of Hatchet Hollow. The meeting was chaired by Tower Pinkster, the architecture firm for the project. The project calls for a base bid for a new turf football field and an 8-lane running track and field events area at Hatchet Hollow. The project also calls for a concession/restroom building, new home bleachers and a press box, a locker room, and new lights. The prospective bidders were also asked to submit eight additional alternate bids that included a ticket booth, entry gates, storage buildings for track, football, and band equipment, an access drive from the band practice area to the football field, concrete bleacher foundations, and tree removal from the east and south-east areas of the Hollow. Base bids and accompanying alternate bids are to be submitted at a public meeting at 11:00 a.m. on February 23, with contracts to be awarded at the February 25 School Board meeting. The goal is to have the project completed by the first home football game in late August.
