Yesterday, a two-vehicle accident occurred on US Highway 50 in Loogootee, causing significant traffic delays in the area. According to police reports, the accident took place around 4:55 pm near 12802 E US highway 50, resulting in one of the vehicles blocking the westbound lane.
The Indiana State Police (ISP) were not present in the area at the time of the accident, leading the Montgomery and Cannelburg Fire Departments to assist with traffic control.
Emergency medical services were also called to the scene to attend to the two individuals involved in the accident. One person sustained a laceration on their face, while the other reported chest pain. Both patients received immediate medical attention at the scene.
The accident caused a temporary shutdown of Highway 50, causing inconvenience for many commuters. However, the road has since been cleared and reopened.
