Oakland City Man Arrested after Brief Foot Chase

On the morning of February 24, Senior Trooper John Davis of the Indiana State Police was getting gas at the Chuckles gas station in Oakland City when he spotted a man he recognized as Homer Dersch, age 50, sitting in a vehicle on the lot. Dersch had two outstanding felony warrants for his arrest for failing to appear in court in Gibson County. Upon seeing Trooper Davis, Dersch fled the scene on foot. Despite Trooper Davis ordering him to stop, Dersch continued to run away. After a brief chase, Dersch was apprehended without incident and taken to the Gibson County Jail, where he is being held without bond. Dersch has been charged with resisting law enforcement, which is a class A misdemeanor, and is also facing two outstanding felony warrants for failure to appear in court for possession of methamphetamine and unlawful possession of a syringe.
