Wanted Fugitive from Martin County Arrested in Lawrence County Thanks to Excellent Investigative Work by Local Officer and State Trooper

Zane Sanders, 23 years old, of Shoals, was wanted in Martin County for Battery Resulting in Bodily Injury to a Police Officer (Level 5 Felony), Resisting Law Enforcement (Level 5 Felony), Reckless Driving (C Misdemeanor), and a felony probation violation. He had been on the run since an incident on January 30th. Lawrence County Officer Brenten Trueblood obtained information that Sanders was staying in Lawrence County. He began an investigation with Trp. Chance Humphrey of the Indiana State Police. The two officers were able to gather probable cause for the exact location through a variety of investigative techniques. On March 1, Officer Trueblood and Trp. Humphrey were working on obtaining a search warrant and planning its execution at a residence in East Oolitic. A plainclothes trooper observed Sanders in a pickup truck, traveling eastbound on East Oolitic Road, then south on Peerless Road. Due to the fact that the investigating officers were not in the area, Sheriff Greg Day drove towards the area. He observed the truck and conducted a traffic stop. He and plainclothes troopers took Sanders into custody without incident. We want to commend the excellent investigative work of Officer Trueblood and Trp. Humphrey. Without their efforts, this wanted fugitive would still be on the run.
