Randall Lee “Randy” Burkhardt, or “Uncle Cheap” as some fondly knew him, passed away at his residence March 9, 2023. He was born in Washington, Indiana, May 22, 1966, to Byron and Connie (Utterback) Burkhardt.
Randy was a 1984 graduate of Washington High School and was a loyal Peabody Energy employee for over thirty years. He was employed at the Peabody Wild Boar Complex working as a warehouse and yard technician. He enjoyed hunting, lifting weights, and was an inspiring hard worker. He was a member of the Washington Conservation Club and attended Harvest Community Church. His family meant the world to him and he was always sure to put a smile on your face with the worst jokes you’ve ever heard.
His favorite pastimes were enjoying the outdoors, riding his Harley, fishing on his boat, and spending weekends in St. Louis with his family at Cardinals baseball games during the summertime. But, his favorite hobby of all was doing anything that involved his family.
Those who mourn Randy’s passing include his parents, Byron and Connie Burkhardt, his daughters, Brittny Burkhardt Sponn of Vincennes, Hilary (Burkhardt) Bogard and spouse, Alex Bogard of Speedway; Ivy Burkhardt and spouse, Brayton Lamb of Vincennes; and Baylee Burkhardt of Washington; and grandsons: Taeven Latham and Kyler Waggoner. Additionally, Randy leaves his fiancée, Jeannie Sanders West in Colorado and sister, Rachel (Burkhardt) Gray and spouse, Gib Gray of Washington; and nephews, Isaac and Garrett Gray. Also mourning Randy’s passing are cousins, Angela (Burkhardt) Evans and spouse, Jimmy Evans; and Jennifer (Burkhardt) May and spouse, Joe May.
Randy was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Geneva and Rex Utterback; paternal grandparents, Lillian and Lyle Burkhardt; uncle, Lyle Toland Burkhardt, Jr.; and cousin, Glenn Burkhardt.
