Marilyn Kay Dickerson, 80, of Petersburg, passed away March 23, 2023 in Petersburg, IN. She was born October 1, 1942 to Glenn and Avinell (White) Coleman.
Marilyn graduated from Oakland City University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education and went on to obtain her Master’s from Indiana State University. She proudly taught for 45 years at Winslow Elementary School in Winslow, IN. She was a member of the Winslow General Baptist Church where she was active in teaching Sunday School and the Youth Group. She was also an Auxiliary Member of the Petersburg VFW Post #3587. Marilyn married her late husband, James Dickerson, on December 20, 1963.
Marilyn is survived by her son, Dr. Jay (Kevin Axsom) Dickerson of Evansville, IN; daughter, Angela (Scott) Chandler of Petersburg; grandsons, Tyler Chandler and Parker Chandler; and sister, Sandra Sue (Ollie) Doublemont of Petersburg.
She is preceded in death by her husband, James Dickerson; and her parents, Glenn and Avinell (White) Coleman.
Services for Marilyn will take place at 11 AM EST on Wednesday, March 29, at Harris Funeral Home in Petersburg, IN with visitation from 4 PM to 8 PM on Tuesday, March 28, and from 10 AM until service time on Wednesday. Pastor Terry Beadles and Pastor Gary Watson will be officiating and burial will follow the service at Walnut Hills Cemetery in Petersburg, IN. Harris Funeral Home is entrusted with care.
