The Washington Street Department reminds the public to obtain a permit from the city administration before trimming or cutting trees with a hired contractor. According to City Ordinance Code 98.05, hired contractors or individuals must also handle all clean-up and debris removal from the site. Homeowners and property owners who do their own tree work and place limbs at the street or alley for pick-up must stack them neatly with cut ends facing the street or alley. Piles should be no more than 4 feet high and 4 feet long. The property owner is responsible for discarding or untangling any tangled debris.
