The Lawrence County Prosecutor announced last Thursday that the police shooting that left two officers injured and the suspect dead was justified.
At 3 a.m. on February 5, officers from the Lawrence County and Mitchell Police Departments stopped a car driven by Anthony Richmond. During the stop, police found drugs inside, and Richmond tried running away. Officers say he ran across a 5-lane highway before pulling out a pistol and shooting at police before they returned fire.
The Lawrence County Prosecutor ruled the officers’ actions were justified after reviewing all of the evidence they were given.
