Washington Community Schools took immediate action after being alerted to a school safety threat circulating on social media. The screenshot was turned over to the Washington Police Department for investigation. While police detectives believe that the original post may have started elsewhere in the country and not specifically targeted Washington High School or any WCS school, the police department provided an increased presence as a precautionary measure. Superintendent Kevin Frank assured families that the safety of students and employees is the top priority of the school and thanked those who reported the threat. The school is set to open as usual on Friday morning.
