Evansville Police shot a wanted man, Kody Schaum, during an encounter on Indiana Street. Schaum, a previously convicted violent felon with an outstanding warrant, was the only person injured and is currently recovering in the hospital. Body camera footage showed Schaum pulling out a gun, prompting the two officers to open fire. Both officers were put on administrative leave as the shooting is being investigated. When Schaum is released from the hospital, he will face new charges including attempted murder and possession of a handgun by a serious violent felon.
