Robert G. ‘Dusty’ Rhoades, 94, of Odon, Indiana, passed away peacefully, on Wednesday, May 10, 2023 at Ketcham Memorial Center in Odon. He was born on November 2, 1928 in Knoxville, Tennessee to John Robert and Edith Kate (Patterson) Rhoades. Dusty married his loving wife, Betty Jane (Armstrong) Rhoades on February 14, 1952.
Dusty was a US Navy Veteran, serving in the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War. He was an active member of the Odon United Methodist Church, American Legion Post #293, was Past President of the Odon Lions Club, Walnut Hill Cemetery and Ketcham Nursing Home. Dusty was involved with a lot of community organizations. He worked as an Electronic Technician at Crane, retiring in 1987.
Family left to cherish the memory of Dusty include one son, Robert Douglas (Gretchen) Rhoades of Terre Haute; one daughter, Debra Jane Rhoades of Greenwood, IN; grandchildren, Dustin (Kailey) Rhoades and Christina (Billy) McKeehan; great-grandchildren, Ava, Deacon and Ellie McKeehan, Camden, Addelyn and Sadie Rhoades.
Dusty was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Jane Rhoades; one brother, Billy Rhoades and twin sister, Betty Rhoades.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 PM on Monday, May 15, 2023 at Meng Family Funeral Home in Odon with Pastor Debbie Payne officiating. Dusty will be laid to rest in Walnut Hill Cemetery in Odon following military graveside rites presented by the Odon VFW Post #9627.
Family and friends may call from 11:00 AM until the time of service at 1:00 PM on Monday at the funeral home.
