Guy K. Barker, a beloved father, life partner, and son, passed away suddenly on May 15, 2023, in Evansville, Indiana. Born on December 4, 1972, in Bloomington, Indiana, Guy was known for his interesting and analytical nature, as well as his selflessness.
Guy is survived by his life partner, Emma McBride; his mother, Elizabeth Doss Barker; his children, Ian Barker, Ivan Barker, and Ahnaka Barker; his siblings, Darrell “D.J.” Smith (Stephanie), Lisa Tolle, Doug “Homer” Smith, and Amber Pease (Gordon); and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Larry Barker; a son, Isaak Barker; a nephew, Rhett Smith; a niece, Lisa Dawn Payton; and his grandmother, Betty Barker.
Guy was the previous caretaker of Oakgrove Cemetery.
Guy had a wide range of interests that showcased his unique personality. He was an avid trash picker, always on the lookout for hidden treasures and items that could be repurposed or given new life. His visionary nature led him to see the potential in things that others might have overlooked. Guy was also a fan of westerns, often spending hours watching his favorite films and television shows.
A lifelong fan of Star Trek, Guy enjoyed discussing the show’s themes and characters with his father. His love for classic rock music was well known among his friends and family, and he could often be found listening to his favorite tunes. Guy cherished the simple pleasures in life, such as sitting on the porch swing watching the hummingbirds flit about and spending time with his beloved family.
As we remember Guy K. Barker, let us celebrate his life and the many ways he touched the lives of those around him. His memory will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
There will be a celebration of Guy’s life held on Saturday, May 20, 2023 at 1:00 P.M at Fredrick and Son-Gill Funeral Home with visitors welcomed from 11:00 A.M until the time of remembrance.
