Washington Police Department Makes Major Drug Busts: Multiple Arrests and Seizures in Separate Incidents

On May 20, 2023, at approximately 01:45 AM, the Washington Police Department’s 3rd shift captain conducted a traffic stop on E National Highway for a traffic violation. During the stop, WPD K9 Fen was utilized to conduct a free air sniff around the vehicle and showed a positive indication of the odor of illegal narcotics. During a search of the vehicle, officers reported locating approximately 27 grams of suspected Methamphetamine, Marijuana, and Paraphernalia. As a result, 29-year-old Joshua Kyle Graber was arrested on charges of possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of Marijuana, and Possession of Paraphernalia. Assisting with the traffic stop was the Daviess County Sheriff’s Office.
In April of 2023, detectives and officers with the WPD & DEA Task Force began a narcotics investigation after receiving information about suspected methamphetamine distribution taking place on E Flora St. near W.C. Schools. As a result, deputies with the DCSO assisted detectives in conducting a traffic stop on 47-year-old Jon Grunwell. During the stop, WPD K9 Fen was again utilized to conduct a free air sniff around the vehicle, which showed a positive indication of the presence of the odor of illegal drugs. During a search of the vehicle, officers reported locating approximately 447 grams of suspected methamphetamine and approximately 137 grams of marijuana. Grunwell was arrested on charges of dealing methamphetamine.
A search warrant was also served at the residence on E. Flora by officers with the WPD, ERT, and DCSO. Officers reported locating additional methamphetamine, two handguns, marijuana, controlled substance prescription pills, syringes, paraphernalia, and items related to drug distribution. Assisting throughout the investigation were the DCSO, Martin County Sheriff’s Office, and Dubois County Sheriff’s Office. These two incidents were not related, and all individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
