The area was hit with another round of storms early yesterday afternoon. Reports from all around of trees down, and power outages. WIN Energy reported early last night that around 7200 of their customers were without power, but they worked with crews throughout the evening to get power. Verizon Wireless cell service was down in the area for many hours last night, leaving lots without cell phone service. Clean-up will start today; fortunately, no major damage or injuries were reported. The main impact of yesterday’s storms was high winds, and some hail was reported in certain areas. Rainfall of over two inches was measured in some parts, leaving roads flooded and resulting in flood watches and warnings yesterday. Today’s forecast calls for heat and humidity, with isolated and scattered showers possible with temperatures in the mid 90s and the heat index pushing 103. Stay safe if you work outdoors; wear light, loose-fitting clothing; take plenty of breaks; and stay hydrated.
