James L. Miller

James L. Miller, 90, passed away peacefully at his residence on Friday, July 28, 2023 with his loving family by his side. James was born on March 11, 1933 and was the son of William and Elsie (Everetts) Miller. He married the love of his life, Virginia (Hays) Miller on June 8, 1952 and together they made a beautiful life together being married for 71 years.
James led an active and busy life both professionally and with his family. He worked as a toy distributor for Dale Sales, a meat cutter for Harolds and Piper’s, and was a self employed farmer. Farming was his love and life. He farmed corn, wheat, beans, melons, and pumpkins. He took great pride in his work. In his spare time he enjoyed round dancing, fishing, trapping and hunting, visiting with his friends and neighbors, and watching his favorite St. Louis Cardinals play. He was a great coach to his kids in their sports as he was a coach at Cub League for a decade. James was a graduate of Lincoln High School class of 1951 and he enjoyed following his Alices through the years.
Surviving James is his wife, Virginia; children, James (Karla) Miller, David (Miah) Miller, Richard (Susan) Miller, and Ann (Rick) Nosal; grandchildren, Chris Miller, Brian (Haley) Miller, Nick (Kristin) Miller, Lauren (Josh) Green, Alex Miller, Racheal (Curtis) Bouchie, William Miller and Ross Morris, Daniel Miller, and Emily (Reid) Edwards; great grandchildren, Joel Miller, Jonah Miller, Charlotte Miller, Paige Miller, Skylar Green, Clark Bouchie, and Laurel Bouchie; sister in law, Ellie Miller; brother in law, Henry Hays. He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, William Miller and Robert Miller; and sister, Edith Miller; sister in law, Suzanne Steinert.
The family would like to thank his caregiver, Joan Channer and Good Samaritan Hospice for their excellent care. Donations may be made to Good Samaritan Hospice.
Visitation for James will be held Friday, August 4, 2023 at Goodwin-Sievers Funeral Home from 10:00 am until the time of service at 1:00 pm. Pastor Trevor Murry will be officiating. Burial will immediately follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. Goodwin-Sievers Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with the care of James.
