A tragic incident unfolded at a southern Indiana apartment complex as authorities reported the fatal shooting of a 65-year-old man during a standoff. Indiana State Police are investigating the event, which occurred in Jeffersonville, just north of Kentucky along the Ohio River. The standoff concluded around 11:30 p.m. on Tuesday when a SWAT team member shot Richard Glass. The fatal confrontation was preceded by Glass firing shots within his apartment and aiming at officers through his window. The sequence of events began when a resident’s 911 call prompted a welfare check around 9:30 p.m. Glass had allegedly made statements about returning to prison. Subsequently, Glass himself dialed 911, expressing concerns about his phone being hacked and asserting possession of a firearm. Despite police and paramedics arriving at his apartment, Glass refused to open the door, fearing those in the hallway were not law enforcement. Tensions escalated as Glass, seen with firearms, began shooting toward officers from his window at around 11:30 p.m. The situation tragically concluded with a SWAT team member firing the fatal shot.
