Shoals Library Receives $500K Grant for Expansion

The Shoals Public Library in Martin County has been granted $500,000 as part of a larger $11.1 million federal grant allocation to 17 rural communities in Indiana. Lt. Gov. Suzanne Crouch and the Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs announced this funding to support community facilities and water infrastructure enhancements. Plans include constructing a new two-story building at the rear of the library, equipped with an elevator to ensure full ADA accessibility. Additionally, new ADA restrooms, energy-efficient upgrades, and extra space for programming and storage will be incorporated. The Public Facilities Program, responsible for this grant, aims to enhance the lives of residents by creating and expanding community facilities. This includes spaces like libraries, museums, fire stations, and community centers. The Shoals Public Library expansion is expected to bring positive changes to the community, offering greater access and improved facilities for all.
