Joe Millspaugh has taken on the role of Knox County Coroner. Joe brings with him a wealth of experience, having served as Deputy Coroner and effectively managing the office for a significant part of the year. The transition in leadership comes after a series of events that unfolded earlier this year. In March, Republican Party officials initiated a process to remove the then-coroner, Karen Donovan, citing alleged negligence in her duties. Subsequently, Karen Donovan faced legal troubles and was arrested on drug charges. Last month, she pleaded guilty to meth possession, a conviction that rendered her ineligible to continue as coroner. This past Saturday, the Republican Party held a caucus where three candidates vied for the coroner position. After careful consideration, Joe Millspaugh emerged as the chosen candidate. He will serve out the remainder of the current term, which is set to conclude in December 2024.
