Betty Roman passed away peacefully with her loving children by her side at her residence at 12:50 pm on Friday, October 20, 2023. Betty was born on May 8, 1933, in Washington and is the daughter of Alvin C. and Mary (Elsey) Hill. She married John D. Holland Sr. and they were married for twenty-five years. She then married Russell Roman on November 12, 1974 and he preceded her in death on August 26, 2006.
Betty was a member of the Washington Eagles, American Legion and the VFW. She had a big heart and gave generously to several charitable organizations. Betty also loved to shop and collect things.
Survivors include her children, John D. Holland and his companion Sue Hill of Bloomington, IN, Randy Holland and his wife Mary Lou, Christina Hembre, Gary Holland Angie Mattingly and her husband Joe all of Washington; her step-children, Diane Fox and her husband Warren, David Roman, Denise Nonweiler, Deborah Whitting; fourteen grandchildren, several great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. Betty is preceded in death by her parents, Alvin C. and Mary Hill, her husband Russell Roman, her siblings, Alvin Hill Jr., Ronald Hill, Jack Hill, Cecil Hill, Sharon Thomas, Karen Hill; two grandchildren and her step sons, Doug and Dale Roman.
Friends may visit with Betty’s family from 10:00 am until the hour of service time of 1:30 pm on Tuesday, October 24, 2023, at Goodwin-Sievers Funeral Home, 2020 State St., Washington, IN 47501. Betty will be laid to rest in Sugarland Memory Gardens next to her husband Russell. Goodwin-Sievers Funeral Home is privileged and honored to be entrusted with the care of Betty and her family.
