A Lawrenceville man is facing a slew of charges after the Lawrence County, Illinois, Sheriff’s Office investigated a domestic battery report on Brookhaven Road. During the investigation, authorities searched a residence and uncovered approximately 12 pounds of marijuana, controlled substances, and two firearms. Michael Newell, 63, of Lawrenceville, currently under federal probation or supervised release, has been arrested on charges that include Domestic Battery, Unlawful Possession of Cannabis exceeding 5,000 grams, Unlawful Cannabis Delivery, Unlawful Possession of a Weapon by a Felon, and Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance.
