Stanley Dean King, affectionately known as Stan, passed away peacefully on October 26, 2023, at Daviess Community Hospital. Born on October 1, 1942, in Waterloo, IA, Stan lived a life full of love, dedication, and service.
Stan was a beloved husband, father, and grandfather, known for his kindness, robust sense of humor, and strong work ethic. He was preceded in death by his wife, Victoria Leigh (Poole) King, and their son, Christopher King. He is survived by his devoted sons, Phillip, and his wife Angela, and Scot, and his wife Tracy. He was a cherished grandfather to Ryan King, Emily May, wife of Mason May,and Steven Thomas. His family was the cornerstone of his life, and his love for them was evident in everything he did.
Stan’s life was marked by his dedication to service. He served as a Machinist Mate in the US Navy, a role he took great pride in. His time in the Navy not only fostered a deep sense of patriotism but also developed his skills as a technician, which he later put to good use in his career as a pipeline technician. His colleagues admired him for his expertise, dependability, and camaraderie.
Stan was a man of many interests and talents. He was an excellent craftsman, with a particular passion for woodworking. He once showcased his impressive skills at Silver Dollar City in Branson, MO, where he delighted visitors with his demonstrations. His creations, whether a simple birdhouse or a complex piece of furniture, were always made with great attention to detail and a love for the craft. They will continue to be cherished by those lucky enough to own one.
Fishing was another of Stan’s passions. He found great joy in the quiet moments spent by the water, rod in hand. His fishing trips were not just about the catch of the day, but about appreciating the tranquility of nature and the thrill of the chase. His fishing stories, often told with a twinkle in his eye, will be fondly remembered.
Stan’s life was a testament to the values of hard work, love for family, and the joy of pursuing one’s passions. His departure leaves a void in the hearts of those who knew him, but his spirit lives on in the memories they shared and the lessons he imparted. His legacy will be carried forward by his loving family and the many lives he touched throughout his journey.
Stan will be deeply missed, and his life will be celebrated by all those who were fortunate enough to know him. His laughter, wisdom, and loving heart will be remembered always. Stanley will be laid to rest in Poplar Bluff, MO at a later date.
