Jeffry Robert Chambers

Jeffry Robert Chambers, 74, Washington, passed away peacefully at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 24, 2023 at home surrounded by those he loved.
He was born April 18, 1949 in Bloomington to the late Robert O. and Jo Ann (Larrick) Chambers.
Jeff was a lover of all things — people and music— which he instilled in his children and all those around him, and always had a smile and love for all of the groovy people.
Wednesday, Nov. 23, 1966, while wearing number 42, he scored the very first basket in the beloved Hatchet House in a 75-68 win over Springs Valley. Jeff graduated from WHS in 1967. He then attended Colorado State and Indiana University and was founder of the Conscious Effort University.
Jeff was an avid musician, writing and recording his 44 songs (his loves of his life). He was an avid gardener and had a love of all plants and trees. Jeff was a member of Sunday morning kitchen church and chairman of the Mischler’s Tavern Thursday evening board meetings.
He had a love/hate relationship with horses from being a cowboy in Colorado, riding the trails and doing barn chores at home at the ranch.
Jeff had a love of music that lasted his lifetime. He made many trips to Nashville, Tennessee to share his music. He had great joy in playing music with his band mates and friends.
He loved Steamer burgers, Heinies Hot Fish, Ireland chicken, Logan cookies and Budweiser.
He is survived by his children Elizabeth (Brandon), Clinton (Michelle), Ethan (Kayt), Tessa (Teylor) and Shelly (Parker). He is also survived by his wonderful grandchildren: Alex, Ace, Adalynn, Isaac, Matthew and Lee. His lifemate Sherry Hunert, the mother of his children, Lynn (Tony) Gray and his brothers, Blake Chambers and Grant Chambers.
A celebration of life is planned for Sunday, April 7, 2024.
