In a recent session, the Odon Town Board greenlit a new five-year contract with Republic, effective January 1, carrying a substantial increase. The approved contract outlines a gradual increase over the years: $18 per month in year one, $19.44 in year two, $21 in year three, $22.67 in option year four, and $24.49 in year five. Residents will see an increase in their February billing. The vote for the new contract was unanimous. The meeting included a public hearing, a procedural step toward gaining approval for the drinking water system rebuilding project. Estimated at $6,448,000, the project involves new wells, a standpipe, and a treatment plant. Funding will come from grants and loans through the State Rural Development Fund. The project focuses on addressing low water pressure, particularly on the north side. A booster pump will be installed, and the treatment plant is designed to process up to 350,000 gallons per day, meeting both town and contracted wholesale customer needs. Starting January 2024, the Odon town board’s monthly meetings, typically held on the third Monday, will now be held on the fourth Monday.
