Jack R. Mikiska passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side on January 31, 2024. Born in Detroit, MI, on June 20, 1928, Jack’s life was filled with love, laughter, and an appreciation for the simple joys of life.
Jack was a devoted fan of college basketball, as he spent countless hours cheering on Indiana and Purdue. He relished the tunes of Big Band Music and Lawrence Welk, immersing himself in the mesmerizing melodies that carried him away to a different time. Jack was also a seasoned veteran who served in the army during the Korean War and was recognized with an Honor Flight for his valor and dedication. In his younger years, he found joy in capturing moments through photography and expressing his creativity in the kitchen.
His love for his family was unparalleled. He was the beloved father of Michael Mikiska (Laura), Teresa Siewers, Kathyrn Williams, John Mikiska, Julie Carney (Michael), Stephen Mikiska, Stuart Mikiska (Jenifer), and Matthew Mikiska (Pam); 18 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, and 3 great great grandchildren. Preceded in death by his parents Charles and Georgia Mikiska; sister Joy Zielger, and his wife Anna Mikiska, Jack’s love and memories continue to live on through his surviving children.
A graveside service to celebrate Jack’s life will be held on Friday, February 2, 2024, at 12:00 pm EST at Mount Calvary Cemetery, Vincennes, Indiana. Pastor Trevor Murry will be officiating. Let us gather to remember and honor the life of Jack, a man who touched the hearts of many and left an indelible mark on this world.
