State Senator Mark Messmer’s resolution honoring Pike Central High School teacher Jodie Elkins for winning the 2024 Rural Teacher of the Year Award passed the Senate on March 5. Sponsored by the Indiana Farm Bureau, the award celebrates Elkins’ contributions to education. A Pike Central High School graduate, Elkins earned her education degrees from Hanover College and the University of Evansville.
