Janet Kay Hedge

Janet Kay Hedge, aged 77, of Washington, Indiana, passed away peacefully on March 18, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of warmth, love, and cherished memories. Born on February 20, 1947, to the late Herman and Lois (McKinney) Lashley, Janet’s life was a tapestry woven with the threads of compassion and devotion to her beloved family and friends.
A loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and aunt, Janet’s family was the cornerstone of her world. She is survived by her devoted children, Laura Parsons with her husband David, Dana Engelhardt with her husband Gary; her adoring grandchildren, Jeffrey Parsons, Nicholas Parsons with wife Hannah, Jesse Hedge, Corey Cox, Adrian Cox, and Patrick Cox; and her cherished great-grandchildren, Cooper Parsons, Christopher Hedge, Kohner Hedge, Jeslyn Hedge, and Jonathon Hedge. Janet also leaves behind her caring sisters, Rita Barlow with husband Dale, Marilyn Thomas with husband Steve, Vicki Fischer with husband Ron, and her brother Charlie Lashley with wife Liz, along with many nieces and nephews who held a special place in her heart.
Janet was greeted in passing by her beloved husband, Terry David Hedge; her grandson, Christopher Cox; her brother, Jerry Lashley; and sister, Gail Lashley. Her life was a testament to enduring love and family commitment.
A proud citizen of Washington, Janet carried with her the values of hard work and community involvement, exemplified by her years of service at Crane. Above all, Janet’s interests – from cherishing time with her grandkids, crocheting, tending to her gardens, to her collection of angels – reflected a spirit enriched by the simple pleasures and deep-rooted passions of life.
Janet’s memory will be held dear, not just in monumental milestones, but in the quiet moments and the gentle patterns of everyday life that she so beautifully influenced and elevated. Her legacy will continue to flourish in the gardens she loved and the hearts of those she touched.
Visitation will be at Fredrick and Son-Gill Funeral Home on Thursday, March 21, 2024, from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm and Friday, March 22, 2024, from 10:00 am until 11:00 am with a service following at 11:00 am. Burial will take place in Bethany Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Heart to Heart Hospice or The American Cancer Society.
