Larry Cochren, CMAA, athletic director at Washington High School in Washington, was awarded the 2024 NIAAA State Award of Merit at the Indiana Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association (IIAAA) state conference on March 19. Cochren has 21 years of experience in athletic administration and has been actively involved in the IIAAA, serving as president for the 2021–2022 term. He also holds a position as a Class 3A executive board member in the Indiana High School Athletic Association (IHSAA). Locally, Cochren has been named District 6 Athletic Director of the Year twice, District 4 Athletic Director of the Year once, and has received the State of Indiana Charles Maas Award.
The NIAAA’s State Award of Merit is presented annually to an athletic administrator in each state, recognizing their dedication to high school and middle school athletics.
