Drug Arrest Made at Jasper Elementary School During Pickup

On Monday afternoon, May 20th, Jasper Elementary School was in the midst of releasing children to the school pickup line when a school staff member noticed the odor of marijuana emanating from a vehicle. The staff member alerted Detective Sergeant Brock Werne, who happened to be in the pickup line to pick up his own children. Sergeant Werne located the vehicle in question and upon further investigation, both occupants were detained, and Sergeant Werne identified the driver as Sylvia Hadi. A search of the vehicle revealed suspected methamphetamine, marijuana, controlled substances, and paraphernalia. The vehicle was found to be in an extremely filthy condition, with beer cans and soiled diapers scattered. Hadi was arrested and transported to the Dubois County jail, where she remains in custody on bond. The Indiana Department of Child Services intervened and arranged for the safe care of the five children who were in the vehicle.
