James Leo Jones, 75, of Loogootee, Indiana passed away at 11:28 p.m. on Monday, May 27th, 2024 at his home.
He was born April 21, 1949 in Washington, Indiana to the late Edgar “Lightning” and Bernadette (Spaulding) Jones.
Lee was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 732, where he was a Fourth Degree Knight, leader of the Second Degree team, a past Grand Knight, and a past Indiana State District Deputy. Lee was a faithful supporter of Gibault Children’s Services.
Lee loved the Indianapolis 500 and attended 54 races. He was an avid Loogootee Lions fan. Lee enjoyed woodworking, mowing grass and representing Santa Claus each winter.
He retired from NSWC Crane after 30 plus years of dedicated employment as an Engineering Technician.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edgar “Lightning” and Bernadette Jones.
Lee is survived by his wife, Brenda (Clark) Jones, who he married on April 30, 1988; siblings, Sue Jones and Steve Jones, both of Loogootee; brother-in-law, Bill Clark of Vincennes; sister-in-law, Beverly (Roger) Lemon of Washington; three nephews, Mick Clark, Scott Lemon and Matthew Lemon.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Very Rev. J. Kenneth Walker at 10:00 a.m. Friday, May 31, 2024 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Loogootee. Burial will follow in St. John Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Thursday, May 30, 2024 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Blake Funeral Home in Loogootee and Friday, May 31, 2024 from 9:00 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. at the church. A Knights of Columbus Memorial Service will take place at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 30, 2024.
