The Daviess County Commissioners had a light agenda for Tuesday’s meeting. Commissioner Michael Taylor presided in the absence of Commission President Nathan Gabhart and reported that the Courthouse project is on schedule. Taylor said that drywall is going up in the refurbished building.
Highway Superintendent Chris Winkler gave an overview of upcoming projects. Winkler reported tiling is underway on County Road 900 E, south of US 50. Winkler reviewed grant applications for the 1.5 miles of Business 50 from Washington’s west city limits to just west of County Road 300 W. Winkler said separate grants are on line for the bridge on Old 50 West and to make the dangerous CR 150 W-Old 50 intersection a roundabout. The state has approved a federal safety grant for the project, but it requires the intersection to become a roundabout. Winkler said that project is still about 5 years out on the state’s schedule.
In regular business, the commissioners approved county health insurance renewal documents with United Medical Recovery. They also approved the renewal of a contract with BakerTilly for budgetary services.
The next commissioners meeting is scheduled for 8:15 a.m. on July 23 in the commissioners room at the Daviess County Government Center.
