Philip was a Captain in the 295th aviation company stationed in Viet Nam and flew Chinook helicopters in combat, transporting troops to and from combat areas. He was awarded the Bronze Star and the Viet Nam Army’s highest award for Gallantry.
He was married to Donna Crow of Washington and had three daughters, Tracy, Tammy and Tonya.
Philip married Linda Filippi after returning from Viet Nam, They were married for 47 years, they had a daughter JoAnn Woodley of NewPort News, Va, a son David Riester of Evansville, In.
LINDA RIESTER died March 23, 2023 at the age of 80. Linda was born August 23, 1942 in Ethiopia to Giorgio De Filippi and Maria Filippi.
Philip and Linda’s ashes will be laid to rest at the Oak Grove Church, Glendale, In, Friday
July 26 at 1:00 PM. Rev Bryon Holtsclaw will give the last Rites, and the Amercian Legion Post 121 will give the military 21 gun salute for CPT Philip Riester.
