Evelyn Mae Phillips, 76, of Loogootee, Indiana passed away on Wednesday, July 30, 2024, at the UofL Jewish Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky, with her daughters by her side.
Evelyn was born on December 15, 1947, in Linton, Indiana to Earnest (Roy) and Wenoma (Abrams) Cooper. She was the middle daughter. She attended school in Scotland and Bloomfield, Indiana.
Evelyn married Jack Mauder on June 5, 1965. She was also married to Gerald (Jerry) Phillips on April 5, 1996.
She worked in a furniture factory in Jasper. She retired in 2012, started cross stitching and making quilts while taking care of her youngest grandson and great grandson. She was most commonly referred to as Gran by her family and their friends.
She was always ready to bake a batch of cookies or make a strawberry pie to share with others. Holidays would not be complete without her homemade peanut butter fudge, a variety of candies and cookies. She knew everyone’s favorite treat and would make it for them.
Evelyn along with her JOFCO coworkers were actively involved in Dubois County Relay for Life for many years.
She was a member of the Loogootee Christian Church and loved Jesus.
Evelyn is survived by her daughters, Marty Kay (John) Arvin, Deann (Jason) Weidenbenner, her grandsons, Jeremy (Danni) Arvin, Austin (Julie) Bailey, Kade Weidenbenner, great grandson, Kyler Arvin all from Loogootee. She is also survived by her sister, Karen (Delmar) Stevens, Bloomington, Indiana.
Evelyn is preceded in death by her parents, Earnest (Roy) and Wenoma Cooper, her sister, Donna Bowersock.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 6, 2024, from 10:00 AM until 12:00 PM at Loogootee Christian Church, 206 Sheridan Street, Loogootee, Indiana until the time of service at the church with Rev. Ed Frost to officiate. Burial will follow in Goodwill Cemetery.
