Amy Denise Emery (Hardwick), age 52, entered fully into the presence of her Lord and Savior on August 1, 2024, surrounded by her family at home. She is survived by her husband of 28 years, Dr. Michael Scott Emery; daughters Abigail Deann and Grace Elizabeth; parents Philip and Margie “Ann” Hardwick; brothers Philip “Aaron” Hardwick (Tonya) and Ryan Hardwick (Sara), mother-in-law Sharon Blanco; father-in-law Lewis Blanco (Dee); sister-in-law Bethany Graddy (Joshua); paternal grandmother Frances “Marilyn” Hardwick; seven nieces and nephews Collin, Cassie, Madalynn, Cyra, Hudson, Hadelyn, and Hayden; and numerous friends, cousins, and extended family. Amy was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Walter and Margie Hewitt, and paternal grandfather, William Hardwick.
Amy was born September 5th, 1971, and raised in Washington, Indiana, graduating in 1990 from Washington High School as a 4-sport star athlete and Homecoming Queen. She attended Indiana University, graduated in 1995 with a degree in recreational therapy, and later earned a teaching certificate and taught special education. At IU, she met the love of her life, Michael, and they married in 1996. She was an instructor at several gyms, most recently at Black Flag Athletics in Avon, Ohio, where she shared her love of fitness as a CrossFit coach. Given her Indiana roots, she was a loyal Indianapolis Colts and Indiana University Hoosiers fan! Amy had recently completed her real estate training and licensing in Ohio with plans to embark on a career as a real estate agent.
To know her was to love her. Anyone with this privilege would describe her as kind, selfless, and genuine, with a smile that would light up the room. She would go out of her way to make everyone feel welcome and never miss an opportunity to create a new friend or help out an old one. She was an outgoing, thoughtful, and loyal wife, mother, daughter, granddaughter, sister, aunt, and friend. Amy was known for her dedication to her family, having devoted several years to homeschooling Abigail and Grace as well as being their greatest supporter and dance mom. She expressed her faith through bible study and small group as a member of Hope Christian Church in Avon, Ohio.
A public visitation for Amy will be held on Friday, August 9, 2024, from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Busch Funeral Home, 163 Avon-Belden Road, Avon Lake, Ohio 44012. A private graveside family service at Clear Creek Cemetary in Bloomington, Indiana will occur at a future date.
