USDA Forest Service Plans Prescribed Burns in Hoosier National Forest to Improve Wildlife Habitats and Reduce Wildfire Risk

usda-2

The USDA Forest Service plans to conduct prescribed fires this fall and spring on the Hoosier National Forest to improve wildlife habitats, restore oak-hickory ecosystems, and reduce wildfire risks. These controlled burns will take place across seven counties: Brown, Crawford, Jackson, Lawrence, Martin, Orange, and Perry. Some private land may also be included through agreements. Signs will be posted in advance, and residents will be notified one to two days prior to the burn. Burn areas will be closed to the public during the operation. For updates, follow Hoosier National Forest on Facebook and Twitter.
