Governor Eric J. Holcomb and Indiana Department of Transportation Commissioner Mike Smith broke ground on the Ohio River Crossing (ORX) project in Evansville, marking the start of a $202 million initiative aimed at improving transportation between Evansville and Henderson. Construction, overseen by INDOT, will begin in late September and continue through 2026. I-69 ORX Section 3 will focus on the approach roads and bridges that will support the construction of the future I-69 river crossing. Meanwhile, Section 2, a collaboration between Indiana and Kentucky, will construct a four-lane river crossing, with preconstruction starting in 2025 and completion slated for 2031. Section 1, led by the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet, is already underway and focuses on improvements in Henderson, with completion expected by 2025.
