The Crawford County Illinois Sheriff’s Department is reporting that well-known Evansville Sports Icon Clint Keown was killed in a one-vehicle accident on Illinois 1 near Robinson, Illinois. Clint was traveling back home from a golf outing when the accident occurred. Details are still under investigation, but a passenger in the car was also injured in the crash. The Sheriff’s Department says he was traveling in a Tesla, and it is not sure if it was in self-driving mode when the accident happened. Keown made a name for himself in the 1990s as one of the most accomplished athletes in the history of the Southern Indiana Athletic Conference, starring in basketball, baseball, and football. Following college, he signed a minor league contract with the Cincinnati Reds and played for one season in Class A ball before retiring from the game, citing burnout. He went on to become an accomplished golfer and professional poker player. Clint Keown was 43 years old.
