The Daviess-Martin CISMA (Cooperative Invasive Species Management Area) is hosting two Fall Weed Wrangle events in Martin County this October to combat invasive plants in local parks. The first event will be held on Friday, October 11, from 9 a.m. to noon at Overlook Park in Shoals. Volunteers will team up with CISMA members and Daviess-Martin REMC employees to remove invasive species like Burning Bush, Honeysuckle, and Periwinkle. The second Weed Wrangle will take place on Tuesday, October 22, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at West Boggs Park near Loogootee. Volunteers will help clear invasive brush, such as honeysuckle and Tree of Heaven. Entry fees for the park will be waived for participants. No experience is required, but volunteers should wear sturdy shoes and bring gloves. Tools will be provided, though participants can bring their own. Minors must be accompanied by an adult with a signed waiver. For more information, contact Emily Finch at Emily.Finch@in.nacdnet.net or 812-329-0048.
