Yesterday, the Knox County Sheriff’s Office apprehended Amy McCarter after receiving a tip about her location. Around 12:45 p.m., a deputy spotted McCarter in a parked car at the intersection of 6th and Niblack in Vincennes. She was taken into custody, and a loaded handgun was found in her possession. As a convicted felon, McCarter is prohibited from carrying a firearm. McCarter was transported to the Knox County Jail and charged with possession of a handgun by a serious violent felon, a Level 6 felony. She was also booked on two outstanding felony warrants for auto theft and domestic battery in the presence of a child. All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
