Leonard Earl “Bob” Godwin, Jr., 79, passed away during the evening hours of October 4, 2024. He was born in Washington on August 11, 1945, the son of Leonard E., Sr. and Sylvia (Schooley) Godwin. On July 28, 1970, he married Betty Lou (Branaman) Godwin and they made their home together for the next fifty-four years.
A 1963 graduate of Washington High School, Bob was a machinist for the Indianapolis Power and Light Company. An avid outdoorsman, Bob enjoyed golfing and fishing. He always rooted for his favorite football team, the Indianapolis Colts, and liked to watch NASCAR. Bob was a long-time member of the Moose Lodge and the Sons of the American Legion.
Those who are left to cherish Bob’s memory include his wife, Betty Godwin; children: Tammy (Roy) Caldwell of Lawrenceville; Shane Godwin of Vincennes; Corey (Lisa) Godwin of Owensville; Amanda Godwin of Washington; Jessica (Tony) Rodriguez of Greenwood; and Jennifer (Nathan) Gerth of Chicago. Bob was blessed with many grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. Additionally, he leaves two sisters, Sharon (Larry) Williams of Mandeville, Louisiana, Nancy Hooten of Washington; and three brothers-in-law, Jerry Kelp, Bob (Lucile) Branaman, and Danny (Carol) Branaman.
During his lifetime, Bob mourned the loss of his parents, Sylvia and Leonard Godwin, Sr., and two sisters, Charlotte Vowel and Nelline Sue Burch.

Visitation for Leonard “Bob” Godwin, Jr. will be 11:00 am – 1:00 pm, Wednesday, October 9, 2024, at the Ed L. Lee Mortuary, 620 East Viola Avenue, Washington, Indiana.
Funeral services for Leonard “Bob” Godwin, Jr. will immediately follow the visitation and begin at 1:00 pm, also at the Ed L. Lee Mortuary. Jamie Hooten will officiate. Burial will be in the Oak Grove Cemetery.
