jasper-police-2

On October 16, at around 12:30 p.m., Dubois County authorities were alerted to a vehicle accident on US Highway 231 near B&A Supply. A witness on the scene reported that the driver, later identified as 18-year-old Christopher J. Clark II of Huntingburg, mentioned needing to “toss the gun” before fleeing into the nearby woods. Deputies from Dubois County, along with officers from Huntingburg and Jasper Police Departments, searched the area and quickly located Clark in the woods. He was detained and brought back to the accident site, where officers found a heavily damaged Dodge vehicle. A witness had also discovered a revolver near the vehicle, which was later determined to be reported stolen in February 2024. Clark admitted to running off the road after experiencing car trouble but claimed he had purchased the gun on Facebook Marketplace. He was arrested and booked into the Dubois County Security Center on multiple charges, including:

Possession of a Stolen Firearm (Level 5 Felony)

Attempted Obstruction of Justice (Level 6 Felony)

Leaving the Scene of a Property Damage Accident (Class B Misdemeanor)

Clark made his initial court appearance on October 17 and was released after posting a $500 cash bond.
