James Carroll Newton

James Carroll Newton, 77, of Zionsville, Indiana, passed away peacefully on October 26, 2024, surrounded by loved ones. Born on May 3, 1947, James (Jim) lived a life marked by dedication, generosity, and a profound love for his family and the outdoors.
Originally from Washington, Indiana, Jim was an accomplished electrician and contractor, as well as the president of Greenwood Hardware Store, where he earned a reputation as both a skilled professional and a compassionate leader. A proud Vietnam veteran, Jim served his country honorably in the U.S. Air Force, carrying forward the values of service and integrity throughout his life.
An avid outdoorsman, Jim found joy in hunting, fishing, and canoeing, and he relished the peace and adventure that nature provided. His love for the wilderness was matched only by his dedication to helping others; Jim was known for his boundless generosity, always ready to lend a hand or share his knowledge with those in need. Jim helped many family and friends with countless home building and renovation projects, where his attention to detail and hard work were always evident.
Jim is survived by his beloved wife, Susan; his son, Aaron, and daughter-in-law, Diane; and his cherished grandchildren, Mack, Liam, Mia, and Eva. One of ten children, Jim is also survived by his siblings Beth Burris, Larry (Desco) Newton, Paul Newton, Barbara Thompson, Ronald (Homer) Newton, Rollie Newton, and John Newton. He was preceded in death by his parents, Curran and Bea Newton, and his siblings Marilyn and David. His legacy of kindness, wisdom, and strength will live on in the hearts of his family and all who knew him.
A celebration of Jim’s life will be held at The Palomino Ballroom located at 481 S 1200 E, Zionsville, Indiana 46077.
This will occur this Friday 11/1/24 from 4pm to 8pm EST. Drinks and heavy appetizers will be served. All are welcome to join us in the celebration.
Brief remarks by Susan and Aaron will occur at 5:30pm, then anyone that would like to contribute a story or thought is welcome to contribute.
