Virginia Hays Miller

Virginia Hays Miller, 90, passed away peacefully on at 10:25 pm on October 27, 2024, at Gentle Care Nursing Home in Vincennes, IN. Born on February 28, 1934, in Detroit, MI, she is the daughter of William E. and Dorothy (Bruner) Hays. She married the love of her life James L. Miller on June 8, 1952, and together they made a beautiful life together, being married for seventy-one years.
Virginia graduated from Vincennes Lincoln High School in 1952 and obtained her associates degree from Vincennes University and bachelors degree for Saint Mary of the Woods. She retired from Vincennes University after several years of being a chemistry professor. Throughout her career, Virginia was known for her dedication to her students and her love for teaching.
Virginia was a member of First Baptist Church and In her free time, she enjoyed watching sports, bird watching, Cardinals baseball, the Purdue Boilermakers, gardening, quilting and square dancing. These hobbies provided her with a sense of peace and fulfillment, allowing her to connect with nature and express her creativity in unique and beautiful ways.
Virginia is survived by her children, James Miller and his wife Karla of Mattoon, IL, David Miller and his wife Miah of North Andover, MA, Richard Miller and his wife Susan of Vincennes, and Ann Nosal and her husband Rick of Camby, IN; grandchildren, Chris Miller, Brian Miller and his wife Haley, Nick Miller and his wife Kristin, Lauren Green and her husband Josh, Alex Miller (Juliette Mudd), Racheal Bouchie and her husband Curtis, William Miller and Ross Morris, Daniel Miller and his fiancee Sarah Wagner, and Emily Edwards and her husband Reid; great grandchildren, Joel Miller, Jonah Miller, Charlotte Miller, Paige Miller, Skyler and Palmer Green, Clark and Laurel Bouchie; brother, Henry Hays of Seattle, WA; sister-in-law, Ellie Miller of Toledo, OH as well as several nieces and nephews. Virginia is preceded in death by her parents, William Hays and Dorothy Bruner, her husband, James Miller and her sister, Suzanne Steinart
Friends may visit with Virginia’s family from 10:00 am until the hour of service time of noon on Monday, November 4, 2024 at Goodwin-Sievers Funeral Home, 524 Broadway, Vincennes, IN 47591. Virginia will be laid to rest next to her husband James in Memorial Park Cemetery.
