A leading national security technology industry has announced it is considering expanding, with plans to build a new facility at Westgate in northern Daviess County. In a press release, the Daviess County Economic Development Corporation and the Uplands Science and Technology Foundation said that Kratos, an advanced security technology company, is looking to open facilities at Westgate. Kratos is headquartered in San Diego, with facilities throughout the country concentrating on rocketry and hypersonics. In a presentation to the Daviess County Council Tuesday morning, Kratos representatives Matt and Tim Conrad said the planned project would build new facilities at Westgate and create 100 to 150 higher-income jobs. The press release said that the DCEDC and USTF, along with local government leaders, have been working with Kratos to provide resources and assistance needed to make the project a success. The proposed facility will strengthen Daviess County’s reputation for being a prime location for high-tech and defense-related industries.
