Jasper Police are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred yesterday afternoon at the SureStay Hotel on Wernsing Road. At around 2 p.m., Jakahri Keyshaun Curry, 20, of Macon, Georgia, and Lawrence Jonte Walker, 27, of Cleveland, Ohio, were involved in a verbal dispute in the hotel parking lot. The altercation escalated, with Curry allegedly drawing a firearm and shooting Walker multiple times. Walker was transported to Deaconess Memorial Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. Curry was found inside the hotel and taken into custody by Jasper Police. The investigation is ongoing, and additional details on charges will be provided later.
