Indianapolis Man Arrested After 32-Mile Chase on I-69

On Thursday afternoon, December 26, a 32-mile police chase ended on I-69 after a Penske truck overturned, blocking northbound lanes near the 53-mile marker. Indiana State Police attempted to stop the driver, Brice Alkema, 24, of Indianapolis, for traffic violations, but he refused to pull over, leading officers through Gibson, Pike, and Daviess counties. Stop sticks were deployed multiple times before Alkema lost control, flipping the truck A search revealed a small amount of suspected methamphetamine, and further investigation determined Alkema was under the influence of a controlled substance. After treatment for minor injuries, Alkema was transported to Gibson County Jail.

Resisting Law Enforcement (Level 6 Felony)

Possession of Meth (Level 6 Felony)

Possession of a Controlled Substance (Class A Misdemeanor)

Operating While Intoxicated – Endangerment (Class A Misdemeanor)

The pursuit involved Indiana State Police, Gibson County, Pike County, Daviess County Sheriff’s Offices, and Oakland City Police.
