Shirley A. (Remmel) Rude, 89, passed away Christmas Eve morning, December 24, 2024. She was born in Washington on September 13, 1935, the daughter of William and Dorothy (Smith) Remmel. She married Charles E. Rude on October 9, 1953, and they made their life together until his passing on February, 15, 2000.
A 1953 graduate of Washington High School, Shirley went on to receive her nursing degree from the Vincennes University School of Nursing in 1972. Later, she retired from the Daviess Community Hospital. Shirley was a member of the Grace Baptist Church.
Those who now cherish Shirley’s memory include her daughters: Tracy (Randy) Archer and Elaine (Tim) Armes, both of Washington. Shirley was blessed with four grandchildren: Alicia (Nathan) Cecil, Aaron (Erica) Armes, Brittany (Scott) McDonald, and Michael Archer. Additionally, she leaves eight great-grandchildren and a brother, William O. Remmel of Eau Clair, Wisconsin.
During her lifetime, Shirley mourned the loss of her parents, William and Dorothy Remmel; her husband, Charles E. Rude; and her son, Mark Rude, who passed away in 2018.
Graveside services for Shirley A. Rude will be held at 1:00 pm, Friday, December 27, 2024, in the Sugarland Memory Gardens, Washington, Indiana. Pastor Nathan Cecil will officiate.
